Keep it small
20 to 40 photos in a 24-page 21 × 21 cm photo book, one per page, with the name and dates on the first page. Let one person make it.

Condolence book
Make a hardcover with a photo, the name and the dates on the first page, then blank or lightly lined pages. Choose standard matte or recycled matte paper, which takes pen without smearing. For 100 guests, 48 pages is enough; keep the writing area at least 15 mm from the binding.

Ask family and friends to send original photo files to one person or shared folder. Photos forwarded through chat apps are often too small.

Scan old prints
Scan at 300 dpi, or photograph them flat in daylight. A 9 × 13 cm print reproduces well at about the same size.
