Terms of Service

These terms apply to every order at BlotPrints, whether you order on our website, through our API or with an AI assistant. Please read them before you order: by placing an order, you accept them.

In short

This is a summary. The full terms are below, and they’re what counts.

1. Who we are

BlotPrints prints products from your own files, like posters, wall art, books, magazines, calendars and mugs, and sends them to you. You can reach us at [email protected] or through our support page.

In these terms, “we” and “us” means BlotPrints, and “you” means the person who places the order or pays for it.

2. Scope

These terms apply to every offer, quote and order of BlotPrints, and to the use of our website and our API. Other terms, like your own purchase terms, don’t apply unless we agree to them in writing.

We may change these terms. The terms that apply to an order are the ones on this page when you placed it.

If part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies, and we’ll replace that part with a rule that comes as close to it as the law allows.

3. Prices and payment

All prices are in euros and include VAT, unless stated otherwise. Shipping is added at the checkout, where you see the total before you pay.

You pay when you place your order, with one of the payment methods shown at the checkout. Payments are handled by our payment provider. We start making your order once your payment has been received. An order that isn’t paid within 30 days expires, and its files are deleted.

Prices on our website can change. The price you pay is the one shown when you placed your order. An obvious mistake in a price, like a price that is clearly far too low, doesn’t bind us: we’ll tell you and you can choose to cancel the order and get your money back.

4. Security

Payments go through a secure, encrypted connection, straight to our payment provider. We never see or store your card or bank details. The information you give us is only used to make and deliver your order and to help you as a customer. How we handle your data is in our privacy policy.

5. Ordering through our API or an AI assistant

You can also order through our API, or let an AI assistant (like Claude or ChatGPT) order for you. Then:

6. Your files

You send us the files we print. You’re responsible for their content and their quality: we print them as they are, and don’t check spelling, grammar, colours, page order, page numbers, image resolution or other content.

If a file doesn’t have the exact size of the product, we fill the size with it: we scale it so it covers the whole product, and a part of the file may be cut off. When more than 2% is cut off, we show a warning. Before you order, you see a preview. Check it carefully: it’s what we print. Text and other important parts should stay within the safe area, and backgrounds should run into the bleed, as described in each product’s specifications.

7. Your rights to the files, and what we don’t print

You may only send us files you have the right to print. You guarantee that your files don’t infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, portrait rights or other rights, and that printing them isn’t unlawful. If someone holds us liable because of your files, you cover the damage and the costs, including reasonable legal costs.

We don’t print sexual or explicit content of any kind. We also don’t print content that infringes the rights of others, incites hatred, violence or discrimination, defames, threatens or harasses people, or promotes crimes, nor other content that is unlawful or that we consider harmful. We may refuse or cancel an order whose files we suspect break these rules or the law, without having to explain why. You get your money back then. We may report clearly illegal content to the authorities.

Your files stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy, convert and edit them only as far as needed to make, check and deliver your order. We don’t publish your files, and we don’t use them or the products we make from them for anything else, like our marketing, without your permission.

8. How long we keep your files

To protect your privacy, we delete files we no longer need:

After that, we can’t make the same order again without your files. Keep your own copy: we’re not a storage service.

9. Making your order

Everything we make is printed to order, just for you. Printing is a physical process, so small differences are normal and are not a defect:

10. Delivery

We send your order to the address you entered. You’re responsible for entering a complete and correct address. If a package comes back because of a wrong address, or because nobody collected it, we can send it again at your cost.

The delivery dates we show are estimates from the carrier, not guaranteed. Around the holidays, delivery can take longer. A late delivery doesn’t give you the right to cancel the order, unless the law says otherwise. More about shipping is on our shipping page.

The risk of loss or damage passes to you once the package has been delivered to you. Is your package damaged, or hasn’t it arrived well after the expected date? Contact us through support within 30 days of ordering, and we’ll find a solution, like sending it again.

11. Retention of title

The products stay ours until you’ve paid for them in full.

12. No right of withdrawal, and cancelling

Everything we make is printed specially for you, from your own files. That’s why, under Dutch and European consumer law, the 14-day right of withdrawal doesn’t apply to our products. You can’t return a product because you changed your mind.

Once you’ve paid, your order is placed and we start making it right away. After that, you can’t change or cancel it anymore. So check your choices, files and address carefully before you pay.

13. Complaints and defects

Check your order as soon as you receive it. Is something wrong because of a mistake on our side, like a misprint, a binding fault or damage during shipping? Let us know through support as soon as possible, at the latest within two months after you found it, with your order number and a photo of the problem.

If your complaint is justified, we’ll print the product again or refund you, at our choice. Please don’t send anything back before we’ve agreed on it.

These aren’t defects: mistakes in your own files, things that were visible in the preview before you ordered, and the normal differences described in section 9.

Please ask us for a solution through support instead of disputing the payment with your bank or card issuer. A chargeback without contacting us first costs us money and time, and we may charge those costs.

14. Liability

Our liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for it. We’re not liable for indirect damage, like lost profit, missed deadlines, missed events or damage you suffer towards others.

These limits don’t apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law, like your right to a product that is what you ordered.

15. Force majeure

We’re not liable when we can’t deliver, or can’t deliver on time, because of circumstances beyond our control, like disruptions at carriers or suppliers, strikes, power or internet failures, extreme weather, pandemics or government measures. If such a situation lasts longer than 30 days, both you and we may cancel the order, and you get back what you paid for anything not yet delivered.

16. Emails

As part of our service, we send you emails about your order, like a confirmation and a notice when it ships. We may also email you now and then about products like the ones you bought. You can unsubscribe from those at any time with the link at the bottom of each email.

17. Our website

The website and everything on it, like its texts, images, designs, software and our mascots, belong to BlotPrints, except for links to other websites and the logos of the AI assistants, which belong to their owners. You may not copy, publish or store (parts of) the website without our written permission, except for your own, non-commercial use.

We put the information on this website together with care, but it can be incomplete or contain mistakes, and we may change it at any time without notice. No rights can be derived from it. Links to other websites are only there for your information: we’re not responsible for their content.

18. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies to these terms and to every order. As a consumer you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in.

Do you have a complaint? Contact us first through support: we’ll do our best to find a solution together. If we can’t, the dispute goes to the competent court in the Netherlands, or, if you’re a consumer, to the court of the place where you live.
