Phone photos on A2

A 12-megapixel phone photo prints at about 170 dpi on A2, above our 150 dpi minimum; a 24-megapixel camera photo at about 255 dpi. A2 is the largest A size where an ordinary phone photo still prints sharp.

Two stacked A3s with a gap are 6 cm taller than the A2, so centre them on it instead of lining up the tops. Lay everything out on the floor first, or tape paper templates to the wall.

Hanging an A2

Above a desk or bed

Leave 20 to 30 cm between the bottom of the frame and the furniture. Above a desk, a landscape A2 often fits better.

On an open wall

Hang the middle of the poster, or of the whole group, about 150 cm from the floor.

Mixing sizes

A3 and A4 have the same shape as A2. Add A3 posters in the same black frame for a matching set.

A2 or A1?

A1 is twice the area, and A1 frames are big and heavy. For a wall under a metre wide, or a poster framed in one order, choose A2.

How big is an A2 poster?
42 × 59.4 cm (420 × 594 mm): twice A3 and half A1.
Can I order an A2 poster with a frame?
Yes, choose a black frame or a poster hanger on the poster page; the page shows what each adds. On its own, an A2 poster costs from €9.99.
What resolution does an A2 poster need?
4961 × 7016 pixels at 300 dpi, or 2480 × 3508 at the 150 dpi minimum. A2 has no bleed, so the file is exactly A2.
Is A2 the same as 40 × 60 cm?
No, A2 is 42 × 59.4 cm and doesn't fit a 40 × 60 frame. A 50 × 70 frame with a mat does fit; see poster sizes.
